Abstract
This is a contribution presented at a conference held at St Bonaventure University, NY: the contribution illustrates Clare of Assisi's evangelical drive, also in opposition to Gregory IX's requests to make St Damiano as a real monastery and to join the monastic network promoted by the pope himself.
