Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This contribution aims to offer a synthetic survey of the different ways of understanding the phenomenon of secularization in the contemporary world. It examines the thought of some of the main scholars and critics of this concept, subjecting to critical analysis the hypothesis of considering secularization in its complexity and ambivalence as an opportunity for a profound rediscovery of human identity and for developing an original hermeneutics of public life within an increasingly multifaceted cultural horizon.
