Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter offers an overview of Descartes' thought seen from an anthropological perspective. Starting from the meanings of substance in Descartes we arrive at the distinction of res cogitans and res extensa and then consider their union in man, composed sui generis of a body-machine and an immaterial soul-form. Finally, the theme of passions as a place of interaction between soul and body is mentioned.
