Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The RI.COL.MA project (Recovery, Characterization, Cultivation of Ancient Corn) is funded by the 2014-2020 RDP of the Emilia-Romagna region. The general objective of RI.COL.MA is to survey, recover, preserve and characterize the traditional maize varieties present in Emilia Romagna from a morphological, genetic, agronomic and technological point of view, which have long been abandoned by large crops and which represent sources of genetic variability. for qualitative characteristics of the grain and for adaptation to the environment. The information obtained will be made available through dissemination and training activities that will allow companies that intend to use traditional varieties of corn to develop new production chains and, at the same time, to preserve the historical and cultural heritage at the basis of maize biodiversity. The project involves the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza, the University of Pavia, the Plant Production Research Center, and 8 Emilia-Romagna farms.
