Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay traces the history of the relationship between social Catholicism, Italian democracy and contemporary capitalism between the 19th and 20th centuries. The wide scientific literature available on the subject is enhanced, recovering the role of some central figures of the national Catholic movement, in the economic, trade union and political world.
