Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Do self-help groups promote social capital? An analysis of participants in the Club of Alcoholics in Treatment, which compares neophyte members and members who have been attending the club for at least three years, show that participation in the club is strongly linked to the different dimensions of social capital. Therefore, if on the one hand the group consumes the social capital of the members due to its intrinsic functioning, on the other it is an important junction of social capital.
