Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In the continuous search for organizational and managerial solutions that are consistent with the challenges imposed by global markets, the control systems, some of the operating systems, contribute to the good functioning of the company. In this volume, the results of a research developed by the ASAM - Association for Business and Management Studies of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart are presented. The research is aimed at revealing how control systems are transformed to be, on an ongoing basis, effective elements to support the business of governing the company. The questions to which it was intended to answer are therefore two fundamentally: why control systems change (what are the determinants of change) and how control systems change (what are the transformation processes). The book illustrates the case of the Merloni Termosanitari Group (MTS), an example of transformation of the control system in the presence of some strategic change determinants such as the introduction of an ERP system and a far-reaching acquisition, financed through the ¿Entry of a pool of banks into the share capital of a family business. Recipients of this work are both scholars and company operators. Scholars (professors and university students) are offered an organizational interpretation of the complex problem of control; managers (at top management, administrative managers, staff organization and information systems directors) are suggested points of reflection, useful for interpreting and directing the design of the systems being observed and the processes of organizational change in support of their transformation.
