Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay traces the history of the Code of Camaldoli, from the reflection started within the Movement graduates in the 1930s on democracy and on the responsibility of the State in the economic order to the drafting of the text, up to its complex reception in the second post-war period, between the drafting of the Constitutional charter and new political leadership of Catholics. A complex affair emerges, within which "For the Christian community" assumes a paradigmatic significance with respect to the presence of the Church and of Catholics in civil society, between the genesis and crisis of the First Republic.
