Abstract
The business of Italian professional soccer, after a phase of spectacular economic growth in terms of income went into a severe financial crisis. This paper aims to briefly describe the subject of the 2006 scandal, while giving detailed account of the sanctions that these facts have determined; to reconstruct the economic and regulatory context in which this phenomenon took place; to indicate the economic and regulatory causes that in my opinion generated it and to suggest some measures aimed at reforming the current Italian football system, restoring a framework of legality and relaunching the activity of football clubs.
