Boccaccio, the Classics, and the Latin Middle Ages

[Autom. eng. transl.] Boccaccio, the classics and the Latin Middle Ages. The paper intends to present the fundamental role played by Giovanni Boccaccio in the textual transmission of some texts from antiquity and the Latin Middle Ages, with particular attention to the manuscripts of his library. Specifically, the two autographed zibaldons, the membranous one (Florence, Biblioteca Laurenziana, Plut. 29.8 + 33.31) and the papery one (Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Banco rari 50) will be considered, where Boccaccio copied many works over the years, that often had very limited fortune (think of the case of the Priapea and other mediolatin texts, of which the Zibaldoni Boccacciani are strategic witnesses).
