Abstract
The ways of using biographical data in social research are complex: a heterogeneous and even contradictory mixture, one in which we can detect some opposing issues, a variety of cultural programs, researcher images, and philosophies of research. For these reasons, the expression “biographical field” seems adequate even to describe its homogeneity in the longitudinal dimension declined at an individual and social level.
