Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] One of the most conspicuous effects of the growth of knowledge and scientific-technological practices has consisted in the increase of sources of expertise which the powers of the State have had to equip themselves in order to adopt or apply regulatory measures in highly connoted and science-dependent sectors and technology. In this contest, expert ethics, that is ethics for policy purposes, is gradually acquiring the role of soft law. The paper explores the use of ethics and ethical commissions in the US and European science policy.
