Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The analysis intends to contribute to the study of the current linguistic policy of the People's Republic of China (PRC) by adopting the theoretical perspective of cultural soft power (wenhua ruanshili). Through the critical reading of two volumes of the Report on the Chinese linguistic situation, published respectively in 2013 and 2016 by the Department of the Chinese Ministry of Education for the management of information on the spoken and written language, we will reflect on the vision that the Chinese government proposes. promoting putonghua, the official language of the PRC, and building a "harmonious linguistic life" as cultural resources. To this end, links, from a discursive point of view, between linguistic planning and cultural soft power will be sought and highlighted. The data collected will be interpreted on the basis of the conceptual structure of soft power, as understood in the Chinese context, of the regulatory framework that regulates the relations between putonghua and linguistic realities that relate to the official language from a disadvantage - regional varieties, minority languages, deviations from the standard - and of the interactions between these two strategic areas and the concrete implications of the language-society relationship. The interrelation between the development of linguistic policies and the increase in cultural soft power that can be found in the narrative produced by the official discourse will lead us to question the reasons that determine the choice of framing balances in a more fascinating, but still self-evaluating image. sometimes precarious linguistics.
