Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] BAS3 are the result of more than 40 years of research conducted at the University of Manchester and, in parallel, in the United States; in the United Kingdom, they constitute a fundamental reference tool for the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders. Now also available in the Italian adaptation, BAS3 provides the ability to assess the child's skill level in a wide range of domain-general functions (language, reasoning, visuospatial ability, memory, processing speed) and domain- specifications (reading, writing, calculating). The use of the psychometric model of the Item Response Theory allows a high flexibility in the choice of the items to be administered, according to the child's ability, to obtain valid and reliable measures even for children with atypical characteristics, both below and below. above that expected for their chronological age.
