Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution investigates the Dispositio of the compositional structures of the Prelude in E flat major - BWV 552/1 (Clavierübung III, 1739) - by Johann Sebastian Bach in the light of Quintilian's Institutio oratoria. Rhetoric was an integral part of Bach's religious, cultural and musical experience: starting from this assumption, we recall the previous symbolic-structural readings of the Prelude and Quintilian's previous historiographical juxtaposition to Bach, giving reason for this new one. It is shown to what extent and in what aspects the Quintilian work could have influenced the Kantor of the Thomaskirche, serving as a structural basis for the composition under consideration.
