Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In this article I present for the first time a critical analysis and a review of reasoned bibliography, as complete as possible, of the writings of S. Vanni Rovighi concerning the Greek-Roman patristic philosophy, with a comprehensive and punctual evaluation of the various texts, careful to the themes, the figures, the methodologies and the theoretical intent pursued by this great scholar. Here for the first time I have collected and critically examined many writings, even little known, such as essays, articles, chapters of books, reviews, translations, voices, lecture notes by Vanni Rovighi, concerning not only, as we know, Agostino, but also figures and prominent themes of patristic thought. In the article I present first, in an overall way, with accurate bibliographic notes, the texts dedicated by Vanni Rovighi to patristic thought in general, critically analyzing them also in the light of the interpretations of great historians of philosophy, then I analyze distinctly its interpretation of Greek patristic thought and the Latin one. I have thus highlighted the supporting axes of the hermeneutics of Vanni Rovighi, in which a historical approach predominated with theoretical sensitivity. The scholar has placed problems of great caliber - such as the link between classical and late-ancient pagan thought and biblical-Christian thought -, between philosophy and theology, the question of "logos", "pistis", and "gnosis" - in the context of the international philosophical and theological debate, in dialogue with HU von Balthasar, P. Courcelle, V. Cousin, J. Daniélou, E. Gilson, HI Marrou, K. Prantl, E. Stilgmayr, W. Voelker.
