Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contributions of this volume are located at the interface between church history and intellectual history. While authoritative authorities multiply in the high and late Middle Ages, new theological competences grow with the magistri at the universities, but also rival the old authorities with the new charismatic leaders, prophets and mystics, the pressure of justification arises for the ecclesiastical establishment, especially the papacy , Every authority has a claim to truth. The question of the nature of truth must be re-set, the dialectics of authority and truth rethought.
