[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter analyzes the transformations affecting work from a relational perspective, starting from the micro-founded level, analyzing two apparently very different areas: manufacturing and platform economy. The hypothesis is put forward that the dynamics of change in the relational dimension may be similar and that elements of uprooting and rootedness can be found in both cases. In both sectors, that is, constant tensions can be noted between what we have defined as the five Cs: sharing, involvement, control, competition and collaboration. This contribution is organized in two sections plus introduction and conclusions. In the first, we pay attention to what digitization and automation mean in manufacturing and the platform economy and their impact on social relations, looking at the respective diffusion of the phenomenon in the two areas. In the second we deepen the five Cs in the two areas, noting elements of convergence and divergence which will then be taken up in the concluding remarks.
