Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Some very famous sources (in particular Pliny, NH III, 16 et seq.) Recall the impressive commitment of Augustus and his closest collaborators in the measurement, cadastral registration, registration of city territories and private lands, both in Italy and in the provinces. However, apart from these sources, it does not seem to me that the literature specifically devoted to the subject has taken sufficient account of some information contained in the works of the Corpus Agrimensorum Romanorum, both in the Gromatici Veteres and, above all, in later sources, on the new Augustan regulation of the assignments and the territorial and administrative division of the Italian territory. In fact, among the writings of the surveying tradition, despite the inhomogeneity of themes and dating, we can note the recurrence of some basic motifs, among which stands out precisely that of the importance attributed by the Auctores to the Augustan intervention of territorial and administrative reorganization of the Italy. This contribution is dedicated to this news.
