Abstract
The question of memory as well as the remembrance-forgetfulness dialectical nucleus is unequivocally central in Walter Benjamin's thought. W. Benjamin's thought engages voluntary forgetfulness in the socio-historical area where forgetting means deciding, choosing. Forgetfulness, the guardian of redemptive possibility, constitutes the final though problematic step of Benjamin's thought. What at the end appears is utopian memory as eschatology of the forgotten, a burning tension to express what is true and unforgettable.
