Abstract

The catalog contains the texts of His Excellency Mr Cardinal A. Scola, C. De Carli and M.A. Crippa, regarding the sculptural production of M. M. Poncet divided into groups of works in a series of experiences that give shape to families of images: the stairs, the door, the window, the boat linked to the idea of place, rather than of travel and that showed both their internal cohesion, and their ability to development and expansion. The search for a primary space around which the form is organized, often see adverse forces opposing. The lucid intuition of what the artist perceives goes through the discovery of the plastic solution which must be reached in order to make visible the new reality that becomes work. Through the path traced by the great masters of contemporary art, from Picasso to Moore, from Chillida to Bancusi, the notion of plastic and space assumes in the works of Poncet the classic feature of a construction which shows fundamental facts of our existence, isolating them as formal themes and articulating them as art forms through materials that have heaviness and opacity, roundness and turning. These are all attributes that refer to the corporeity, and which tell that the status of the artist, like ours, is subjected to the rules of space, weight and time, but that thanks to the hands of artist it is always able to find the vanishing point that opens to an unimaginable horizon.
