Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The "Milan Archeology" project concerning the remains of structures in Roman Milan made use of specific methods and tools, such as the collection of previous data through archival research, and the verification of information through inspections and therefore direct contact with the monuments. A particularly significant case is the complex of the funerary area of "San Vittore al Corpo" which also preserves the remains of a grandiose imperial mausoleum. The enclosure that delimits the space of the necropolis starting from the 4th century AD is conserved below two modern buildings, while the remains of the mausoleum lie below the current church of S. Vittore. The analysis of the collected data has allowed us to identify similarities and differences between the structures still visible, for example in the techniques adopted for the elevation or the foundations, and has provided the necessary knowledge to hypothesize concrete solutions for the protection and enhancement of assets.
