Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This volume collects the interventions presented at the Athenaion Politeiai Conference between history, politics and sociology: Aristotle and Pseudo-Xenophon, held in Cagliari from 10 to 12 May 2017. The two works, so different despite the same title, and rightly counted among the most significant expressions of Greek political and historical thought continue, with their unresolved problems, to be at the center of scholarly reflection, as evidenced by the commented editions and essays on one and the other that appeared in recent years (or soon to be published) . The volume appropriately opens an illuminating debut in which it is defined as precisely to understand the term politeia, in order to avoid anachronistic misunderstandings, and a reconstruction of the cultural environment in which the four rolls that have fortunately transmitted us the Arena- telian Athenaion were copied; of this are then, in numerous contributions, reviewed the relations with the Politics, various questions of political theory and various critical places of the historical section of the work. The history of the interpretation (the dogma roscheriano, which is at the origin of the modern exegesis of the work) is dealt with in the Athenaion Politeia pseudo-senofontea; nodal points and still controversial as the type of message (subversive or dissuasive?) that one can imagine its author had in mind to address to its addressees; an attempt to fine-tune a possible Anonymous profile; philological analysis of difficult passages, such as II 19-20, from whose elucidation descendants consequences of great importance for our understanding of the work.
