Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The factual entertainment programming, the heart of “native digital” TV channels, is characterized by some shared production standards: among these are the renunciation of direct, above all for reasons of costs, and the fundamental role of assembly as a sorting tool and expressive enhancement of the material shot. In many programs, expression of this current, from Masterchef to many examples of docu-reality, the assembly has an increasingly crucial role, more and more extended beyond the boundaries of a technical practice to embrace those of a writing operation. Through an analysis of the factual genre and a comparison with the productive cultures of contemporary Italian TV, the essay reconstructs the relevance of editing in this type of production, exploring some particularly significant examples.
