Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Some economic phenomena are so basic in an organized society that their treatment - albeit in a piecemeal way - dates back to antiquity. The value of economic assets is typically one of them. Yet value theory remains today one of the most controversial of political economy. During periods of relative calm and settled convictions, periods of radical rethinking and defiance of tradition have occurred. In our century, perhaps no economist has contributed to stimulating such an intense and radical rethinking as Piero Sraffa. His works have had a wide following (of consents and disagreements) especially among Italian economists. The guiding idea that led to the contributions collected in this volume was to compare the different positions. Proceedings of the 28th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Italian Economists Society, Rome, 29-30 October, 1987.
