Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Through the analysis of some exemplary photographic works (Buena Memoria by Marcelo Brodsky, 1996); ; Ausenc'as by Gustavo Germano, 2006; Fotos tuyas by Inés Ulanovky, 2006; Manos de Abuelas by Clara Cholakian Herrera, 2016), the essay aims to explore the social and symbolic functions placed in the photographic medium on the occasion of the anniversaries of the military coup in Argentina. During these collective manifestations, it appears in fact evident that photography has become the main instrument of a political denunciation founded on three principles: the request for truth, the duty of memory and the demand for justice. At the same time, the experience of cultural and collective trauma seems to transfer into the photograph the questions that remained unresolved around the perception of a fractured and suspended present time, traversed and retraced in every direction in order to elaborate a real question on the relationship of the man with history.
