Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution presents a first attempt to summarize the population in Roman times in the province of Imperia, with particular reference to the area between Imperia and Sanremo, starting from the analysis of three probables landing places, the first located at the mouth of the stream Argentina between Arma di Taggia and Riva Ligure, the second in the territory of Sanremo and the third at the mouth of the Prino torrent, near Imperia, trying to demonstrate their close connection with a dense network of ridge and coastal settlements of various types and dating as well as with the circulation of goods and foodstuffs, studied over the long term (from the 4th century B.C. to the 7th century. AD)1.
