Abstract
The essay examines the discipline of international, European and national sources about forced labor, referring to those forms of human activity for which the material situation of the worker approaches the servile condition. The conclusion is that the Italian regulation, while providing a joint liability of the customer for the retribution due to the employees involved in the procurement, ends up not to faithfully transpose the provisions of the European directive n. 52 of 2009, which instead give the contractor responsibility for any violations committed by subcontractors.
