Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The complex construction of the abbot Joachim of Fiore, the breadth of his writings and his own style probably played an important role in the non-immediate perception of the many implications and the many implications of his thought. The contribution highlights how how all this has involved a variety of images, of "reputations" of the Calabrian abbot. Far beyond the "double reputation" with which Marjorie Reeves characterized it for the 16th-17th centuries - the great prophet; the great heretic - in reality the work of Gioacchino becomes the object of a process of understanding in which only slowly emerge, first in life, and then above all in the half century between his death and the investigation of his writings by a commission cardinal, its different characters and its virtualities. All this will continue in the following centuries, with a debate that became alive again in the second half of the 20th century
