Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The term culture has many meanings. certainly includes all the social, historical and intellectual expressions of man. Art, science, philosophy, literature are certainly "culture", but so are the various organizations and social institutions, techniques, family structures. Since the nineteenth century these areas have become the object of scientific study and cultural anthropology is born. The article proposes a historical excursus on cultural anthropology analyzing its theoretical foundations in the light of a philosophical anthropology.
