Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] For nearly thirty years, US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (1936-2016) was one of the best-known and most influential jurists in the world. His fame is linked to the elaboration and defense of a particular method of legal interpretation known as "originalism" or "textualism", by virtue of which laws - including the Constitution - must be interpreted according to the meaning that their words would have attributed to an average citizen at the time of enactment. The book aims to describe Scalia's judicial philosophy and to verify which peculiar aspects of his thought can be of useful use within the Italian context.
