Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay presents a critical historical analysis of the work of Girolamo Borsieri (1588-1629), an asco poet active on several literary fronts: between 1610 and 1612 a pastoral ministry was published, the 'Amorosa prudenza', and six books of madrigals , entitled 'Scherzi'. As for the latter, the poet's choices approach the model of classical epigrammatic, often identifying themselves as real translations from the ancient. In this regard, the proximity to some features of the poetry of the more famous Giovan Battista Marino, correspondent of Borsieri, is symptomatic.
