Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In a process of revitalization of the traditional manufacturing sector, growing importance is acquired by the innovation generated by the interrelations in the local area between companies, public organizations and universities. The author argues that the development of such relationships allows sharing and combining different resources, fueling the process of generating and spreading innovation. Going beyond geographical boundaries, the inter-organizational relationships developed between actors that occupy a different spatial position in the innovation network determine the revitalization of the various local areas. This situation is found for the technological hubs that on the one hand allow them to recreate proximity economies based on research activities and on the other support the growth of new businesses and the development of the local economy, as highlighted in the related case to an Italian Science and Technology Park.
