Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The diversication of agri-food products through emerging chains plays a fundamental socio-economic role in Ecuador. However, research has focused only on examining agronomic performance. On the other hand, there is a shift in perspective towards sustainable consumption and production models. Socio-economic sustainability, chain conguration and governance are aspects to propose improvements. Socio-economic and productive factors are consistent with the level of development and still affect the progress of the chains. The objective of this study was to analyze socio-economic and production aspects to understand the dynamics of the Inca chain of Deyayas, for which vertical and horizontal dimensioning was introduced to contribute with relevant ideas. The applied framework has primary and support activities, and ows of high and low relevance. The research grouped levels of pre-production, production and post-production; In addition, the mapping of the food chain and the identification of the actors were carried out. The results obtained show viable long-term strategies, such as the diversification of marketing channels, the intervention of academic institutions and the empowerment of associations, aimed at circular models. The main contribution is the application of conguration to evaluate performance . In addition, we recommend using new indicators to analyze the environmental and institutional components in depth. Professionals with production units and academics may find the study useful to put agri-food sustainability into operation.
