[Autom. eng. transl.] The World Health Organization in a 2016 report ([1] WHO 2016) estimates that 12.6 million deaths worldwide are attributable to environmental pollution and that environmental risk factors such as air, water and of soil and climate change, contribute to the onset of more than 100 diseases and damage to health. This leads us to affirm that a healthy environment is the basis of a healthy population, human health and well-being are intimately linked to environmental quality. Furthermore, the profound social changes on the geopolitical level and the growing conflicts in the management of wealth and power cause growing problems and pressing questions about the modalities of the relationship between the individual and society, systems of material and cultural production, local and planetary resources. These social, economic and environmental complexities increase uncertainty and require attention to the centrality of people, to the enhancement of the many different human resources and different skills and talents. If the culture of differences is becoming more and more relevant, gender differences cannot remain invisible.
