Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution opens with a reflection on two family pictures (Family Tree, by Frida Kahlo, and Family of acrobats with ape, by Pablo Picasso) to deal with conceptions of the mind and relational faces. At its origins, psychological thought is characterized by a monadic vision of the mind that establishes both psychoanalytic and behaviorist views. The concept of system then opens up the epistemological space for the study of family relationships, up to the constructivist-narrativist turn. The focus of psychosocial and clinical research by Vittorio Cigoli and Eugenia Scabini is instead the common matrix (the familiar) that characterizes the different family forms. The coordinates of the Relational-Symbolic model are thus outlined, which goes beyond individualism, but also beyond the dyadic conception that for example guides the Infant Research. The model, at the center of which is the concept of generativity, refers to the person as "being in relationship with" and is based on three principles: organizational, symbolic, dynamic.
