The essay analyses the origins, preparation and realization of the Brescia campus of Catholic University, reconstructed thanks to considerable documentation conserved by the University and other institutions such as the Ezio Franceschini Archive of Florence. In this way the strength and the complexity of the relationships, steps and events that led to the birth and growth of the Catholic University in Brescia. Particular emphasis is put on the creation of the city’s Agency for Higher Education and of a section of the University’s Department of Education Sciences. The initiative orbits around the longstanding synergy between the University and La Scuola Editors. The essay reconstructs the subsequent developments of the project, which took place also due to the transformations that changed the country’s cultural climate and educational system.
