Abstract
The subject of this study is the fountain of San Carlo Borromeo, the monument commissioned in 1904 by the City Hall of the third district of Vienna to celebrate the sixty years of Mayor Karl Lueger. The author suggests the presence of a passage by the Betrothed among the inspirational sources of the sculptural complex.
