Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In this article written for the magazine of the Italian Association for Industrial Research, an attempt is made to make the reader aware of the reasons for supporting research and industrial innovation in Italy and in Europe, asking questions about the need for Europe to have a " growth compact "based on the indistria and why Italian productivity is weak.
