Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The study traces, firstly, on the basis of a documentation that is difficult to access, and sometimes unpublished, the biographical and intellectual story of Mascardi, which takes place mainly during the twenty years of the pontificate of Urban VIII, highlighting the original aspects of his reflection poetic and stylistic. The second part of the research rereads the most significant work by Mascardi, the treatise "Dell'arte Historica", published in Rome in 1636, in which, alongside the themes inherited from the humanistic reflection, solutions are identified aimed at the construction of a modern prose of thought that opens without prejudice to resources considered peculiar to literary writing.
