[Autom. eng. transl.] A complete and updated guide to the tools for understanding the effects that trauma can have on children, together with indications for their treatment. Nowadays there are still too many boys and girls who are victims of unrecognized violence and therefore not protected and helped. Scientific research has shown how people react to violence, natural disasters, the loss of attachment figures, diseases, terrorism and war by manifesting cognitive, emotional and physical symptoms. Boys and girls who experience repeated traumatic experiences have a high risk of developing, in adolescence and young adulthood, psychopathological disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and, in cases more serious, psychosis or mood disorders. However, not all minors exposed to trauma develop psychopathological disorders, why? This book seeks to answer this and many other questions thanks to the contribution of psychologists, child neuropsychiatrists and researchers involved in the treatment of girls and boys who are victims of abuse and mistreatment suffered during childhood.
