Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay examines Dorazio's teaching notes for his course at Penn University, conserved in the artist's archive. In analyzing these materials, an approach emerges based on knowledge of the history of art and, at the same time, on the science and physiology of the eye. An element, the latter, which leads to a divergence with respect to the formalist model proposed by Clement Greenberg, a critic very close to Dorazio, and which fits into the vein of teaching practices linked to the nascent Visual Studies.
