Abstract
The historiographical and theoretical project of the Multifocal Approach is based on two
assumptions: the complexity of reality and the need to identify different forms of knowledge.
Metaphysics, as a question addressed to the totality of things, has thematized complexity by
distinguishing the totality of things from the notion of the whole. According to phenomenology,
the understanding of meaning is the answer to the problems that the modern age has left
unsolved. Hermeneutic multifocality not only captures the multiple aspects of the object, but
also a dimension of meaning that reveals itself as a relational transcendental structure that
accompanies every way of understanding and interpreting.
