Abstract
The article presents four excerpts from al-Suyuti's Encyclopedia of Qur'anic sciences. They deal respectively with:\r\n- The Circumstances of Revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl);\r\n- Clear and Allegorical Verses (al-muḥkam wa l-mutašābih);\r\n- The Abrogating and the Abrogated (al-nāsiḫ wa l-mansūḫ);\r\n- How to write a Qur'anic commentary.
