Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Italy has established itself as the second largest manufacturing producer in Europe after Germany. This is due to a strong export orientation of its industry. Today, Italy is one of only five G-20 countries, along with China, Germany, Japan and South Korea, to present a foreign trade surplus in non-food products. A positioning built step by step over the 150 years since the unification, with an acceleration in the second post-war period when the Made in Italy imposed itself on international markets not only in the most famous sectors of personal goods (fashion and related accessories) and the home (furniture, tiles), but also in that of mechanics.
