[Autom. eng. transl.] Today High Education is confronted with the need for a profound cultural renewal to interpret profound socioeconomic transformations on global and local scales. It is called to develop thought and not only to produce paths, to discover and "to understand the deep network of interconnections and interdependencies that characterize the destiny of our species on Earth". Digital technologies and unprecedented organizational methods contribute to expanding the possibilities of deciphering needs and to elaborate theories and operational protocols, also by virtue of the heuristic tradition that distinguishes pedagogy, education and training science. The political choices that will characterize the coming years and the individual and collective choices that are emerging require an intentional multi-stakeholder opening in order to pursue the goal of a widespread and convinced consensus in order to structure efficient and effective training systems to respond to the challenges of the knowledge society.
